1 Corinthians 1.18
For the message about the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.

To be saved requires our being made part of a people separated from the world so that we can be united in spite of—or perhaps better, because of —the world’s fragmentation and divisions. – Stanley Hauerwas

The redemption that God offers does not always make sense. It means that we must appear “weak” to the world by confessing and repenting of our sins. It means that we must turn away from what the world offers and deny ourselves. So why walk down the road to redemption God offers when it makes no sense to the world?

Because those who have experienced the redemption God offers know the power of salvation. And that more than enough, more than anything: living water, food that satisfies, a pearl of great price.

This week we will be focusing on the power of God that changes us on the road to redemption. The power that sanctifies us, makes us holy, and sets us apart from the world.

How has God’s power helped make you more holy? How has the message of the cross helped you to conquer sin in your life?
